Parkview Regional Hospital

Performs primary functions of a professional occupational therapist in the evaluation of patients and the development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of patient treatment planning. Maintains informative, accurate, and timely documentation and record management. Works collaboratively with all disciplines and customers. Trains and supervises appropriate team members. Performs role in a safe and cost effective manner. Maintains personal competency. Participates in the development and quality of occupational therapy services. Assists in planning and conducting daily activity/occupational therapy group sessions and programs, in accordance with the interdisciplinary treatment plan and daily priorities of patients and needs of the hospital.

Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform occupational skills. Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
Documents subjective and objective findings of patient progress. Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed. Seeks consultation as necessary.
Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting. Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs. Appropriate assessment/recommendations of patient/family's home equipment needs.
Supervises and delegates the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants according to established licensing laws, state regulations and practice standards.
Verification and solicitation of MD occupational therapy orders: Acute care, Outpatient Rehabilitation , and Gero-Psych.
Functional Outcomes Reporting
Design and implementation of an appropriate Home Program for the patient.
Accurate completion of daily patient charges.
Appropriate activities and goal setting for Therapeutic Groups
Correct and safe utilization of available therapy equipment and physical agents.
Attends annual Crisis Prevention/Intervention training

Job Requirements

Graduate from a program approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education, its predecessor organization or another national credentialing agency.

Bachelors degree is required

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Completion of American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers course within 90 days of hire and to keep current.

One to two years experience in a hospital setting.

Current Texas Occupational Therapy License is required
Membership in NBCOT is required for credentials
