Summary:
The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an ambulatory procedural environment. This individual demonstrates competency in the delivery of care to a primarily adult population undergoing procedures. Responsibilities may include performing assisting with and/or monitoring procedures providing on-call coverage administering complex IV therapy telephone triage and providing patient and family education and coordination of care. Competencies for the Staff RN - Ambulatory Services may include but are not limited to pre- and post-procedure assessment vascular access and central-line management complex infusion therapy phlebotomy moderate sedation and post-procedure recovery care coordination and teachback methods point of care testing and procedure-specific instruments and equipment needed for patient care. The Staff RN - Ambulatory Services job description is adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice 2nd Edition (2010) the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Telehealth Nursing 5th Edition (2011) and the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing 8th Edition (2010). Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Two years of clinical nursing experience in a field that is applicable/acceptable to specific clinic is required. Three to five years of clinical nursing experience is preferred. Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is preferred. Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 3 months of hire.

Other information:
National certification in nursing specialty is preferred. Able to utilize electronic health records and other technology necessary for setting. Able to perform focused or comprehensive nursing assessments in person or via telephone as applicable to specific practice setting and patient population. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care resolving patient care issues and working with patients and their families often during stressful situations.

The health network represents the collaboration of Wisconsin’s largest multispecialty physician practice with two community-based physician groups. In October 2017, an existing affiliation with the former United Hospital System was expanded to include its Kenosha Medical Center, St. Catherine’s Medical Center and related clinics in the network.

Froedtert Hospital, the primary adult teaching affiliate for the Medical College of Wisconsin, is a 604-bed academic medical center that delivers advanced medical care. Froedtert Hospital is nationally recognized for exceptional physicians and nurses, research leadership, specialty expertise and state-of-the-art treatments and technology. It serves as an eastern Wisconsin referral center for advanced medical practice care in 37 specialties and is a major training facility with more than 1,000 medical, nursing and health technical students in training. 

In partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin, it is also a respected research facility with more than 2,000 research studies, including clinical trials, conducted every year.
