This position is responsible for managing the transfer, qualification, and operations of specific Optical Metrology processes to support technology development and deliver volume ramp. Much of this work will be in direct collaboration with our partner but supported by our Research and Engineering teams to help ensure success. High quality, fast turnaround characterization of performance data will be a critical measurement of success.
Optical Metrology Engineer, External Partnerships Responsibilities
* Support the transfer of optical metrology capabilities to technology development/mass production partner
* Partner to develop operational competencies through remote and hands-on training including adaptation of SOPs, worksheets, and other relevant documentation
* Execute analyses and evaluate data against Key Performance Indicators to support process quality and feedback evaluation
* Become local subject matter expert and knowledge conduit between partner site engineering team
* Change control management
* Recognize capability gaps and propose executable solutions
* Summarize, document, and present results to internal and external stakeholders
* Communicate effectively with both management and fellow peers
* Display comfort and skill in presenting issues/findings
* Able to travel up to 50% to partner site with periods of co-location
Minimum Qualifications
* MS or PhD in relevant field supporting optics and metrology
* 5+ years professional experience utilizing optical metrology systems and optical design tools with emphasis on performance output, design validation, tolerancing and the establishment of physical properties to optical performance
* 3+ years experience with product transfers and/or volume scaling
* Knowledge of optical technologies including imaging and illumination systems, photometry, and physical optics
* Experience with standard optical design tools such as Zemax, FRED, or ASAP
* Experience executing designed experiments and related statistical data analysis
* Experience in measurement quality management including GR&R and other validations and control methods (e.g. SPC)
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills that support effective decision making
* Experience planning effectively, organize and align different functions and groups
* Experience working in a cleanroom environment
* Experience with in-line and off-line testing using automated systems for quality control in HVM for (IQC, OQC, PQ and final inspection of optical components
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with waveguide optics
* Knowledge and experience with color science, colorimetry, and visual optics
* An understanding of semiconductor process and integration engineering
