As a key member of the Clinical Diagnostics Chemistry and Immunoassay-Systems Engineering Team and reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, this role is responsible for developing and implementing Human Factors and Systems Engineering best methodologies as a functional leader and direct contributor.

In this role, you will have the following opportunities, but are not limited to:

* Lead a multi-site team of HFEs by providing both leadership and mentorship across global projects as well as providing direct technical execution for projects.
* Establish HFE standard methodologies across the business unit
* Provide Systems Engineering leadership for cross-site, multi-platform software/hardware development project
* User Understanding: plan, collect and translate information about how users interact with products through a variety of techniques such as: direct observation, interviews, surveys, and persona development.
* Formative User studies: plan and execute user testing (both internally and externally) including protocol development, test execution and analysis of results (reporting).
* Human Factors Validation: conduct validation according to industry (FDA) regulations
* Analyze and develop requirements and design traceability

The essential requirements of the job include:

* Degree in Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Human Centered Design or related field
* BS and 9+ years or MS and 7+ years of meaningful work experience
* Shown success in delivering results through team members and mentoring/coaching teams
* Able to work as both a functional manager and as an individual contributor on multi-functional teams with global development groups at other facilities as well as take work direction and follow procedures
* Work optimally with team members to develop goals and plans, resolve problems, achieve goals, and coordinate efforts within and across departments
* Ability to apply user-centered design and usability engineering principles to product research, development, and design
* Well versed in the human element and able to empathize with a wide variety of users

It would be a plus if you also possess:

* Experience in medical device, or similar regulated industry
* Experience with the following standards: AAMI/ANSI HE75, ISO/IEC 62366, ANSI/AAMI/ISO 14971, IEC 60601-1-8 and with the following FDA guidance documents: Medical Device Use-Safety: Incorporating Human Factors Engineering into Risk Management, Applying Human Factors and Usability Engineering to Optimize Medical Device Design
