About The Team

Anthem Emerging Business Group (EBG) is a new team designed to create new business models and alternative sources of future growth for the enterprise. The EBG team will coordinate with Anthem and its vast array of partners to rapidly translate emerging constituent needs into new assets. EBG will leverage Anthem core competencies and enterprise resources and also enhance/develop distinct partnerships and relationships to innovate market leading solutions.

Emerging Business Director (Commercialization)

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for working for a VP and above to identify, develop and commercialize new assets for the enterprise. Primary duties to include, but are not limited to:

Championing breakthrough projects to diversify future sources of growth and transform our operating model to respond to emerging trends and solutions.

Partnering with P&L and functional leaders to understand business strategy and key areas of opportunity. Exploring internal capabilities, investment/portfolio companies and external partners to assemble potential solutions and quantify possible value, business impact.

Organizing pilots and experiments to evaluate and prove future market viability and interest.

Obtaining resources (people, funding, material, support) to support the business unit information needs and strategic initiatives.

Monitoring, measuring and communicating progress and status of key initiatives to stated milestones implementation schedules.

Developing, monitoring and tracking metrics to track budget and spending.

Extending future capabilities across the enterprise, preparing for eventual transition to target business owners once ready to scale.

Creating and presenting extremely high quality presentations to executive levels, internal and external.

Providing coaching and mentoring to other leaders in the organization on strategic thinking and on projects that deliver high return and high strategic value.

Preferred Locations - Atlanta, Chicago, Indianapolis, New York City, San Francisco or Minneapolis.

Qualifications

Requires a BS/BA degree in a related field; 10 years of business development, innovation, project/program management, partnership/alliance management experience; 3-5 years of leadership/management with business knowledge in multiple disciplines within a Healthcare organization; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Masters degree preferred.

Demonstrated analytical skills, sense of curiosity, and effective problem solving (and be expected to speak to those attributes in interviews)

Ability to work through ambiguity putting structure to broad enterprise initiatives.

Familiarity evaluating/exploring/integrating market trends

Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication, persuasion and negotiation skills required, to include board to front line level audiences

Demonstrated ability to set and execute a strategic vision.

Excellent track record of successful leadership and demonstrated accomplishments, including leading significant change

Demonstrated ability to motivate, build consensus, and drive change is required

Strategy experience in commercialization.
