Consumer Lending Technology
Wells Fargo Consumer Lending is a diversified product and services group that includes the companys home lending, home equity, consumer credit card, personal loans and lines, direct auto, dealer services and commercial auto, retail services and education financial services businesses. Consumer Lending Technology (CLT) is a technology arm of Consumer Lending that executes the Wells Fargo Technology strategy and offers a strategic technology perspective to all Consumer Lending businesses. Our teams provide technology solutions to the businesses and manage the application portfolios through the enablers of skills, stability, security, scalability, speed, and satisfaction.

Position and Responsibilities
By putting the customer at the center of all we do, Wells Fargo Consumer Lending is reinventing how we are meeting our customers lending needs in the Digital age. We are making the modern technology the core of our company and the main driver of innovation while aiming to create relevant, engaging, timely, pleasing, frictionless, intuitive, and fully Digital lending experiences. Head of Engineering will be responsible for skilling, enabling, and empowering Consumer Lendings technology team members who are spearheading our technology-led transformation. The position will partner with business, technology, Wells Fargos CTO in driving initiatives which include widespread adoption of test automation practices, realization of fully automated end-to-end builds and releases across the majority of Consumer Lending technology portfolio, smoothing out the path of adoption for target architecture and platforms, transformation away from dedicated roles towards cross-functional empowered developers, and providing technology support for Agile execution. The position will also be responsible for development of Shared Business and Data Services providing a unified customer view and holistic customer experience across the entire line of Consumer Lending products.

Spearhead drive to Test Automation across CLT
Define testing standards across CLT.
Drive migration to Test Automaton for legacy system.
Align Test Automation with Agile Execution.
Define aggressive maturity targets in Test Automation and drive the organization to achieve them.
Drive maturity of test environments and environment independent strategies.

Spearhead drive to End-to-End Automation from idea to delivery
Lead definition of new business and technology processes in support of automated approvals and automated one-button deployments.
Lead identification and automation of manual processes across the entire SDLC lifecycle from ideation to production support.
Introduce tools and platforms that allow increased level of automation.
Lead adoption of ServiceNow.

Delight Developers
Collaborate across Engineering & Architecture (E&A), CLT, CTO office while smoothing adoption path for technologies and best engineering practices for development teams.
Accelerate adoption of best in class tooling.
Create space for developers to focus on their primary development responsibilities.
Drive innovation culture and incorporate innovation in development processes.
Create a culture of learning around the latest and best in class technologies.
Ensure developers have best in class development environments from desktop, to test environments, to cloud.

Establish, evolve and uphold Development Standards
Standardize code management practices.
Standardize Deployment and Release practices.
Define expected developer workflow (commit frequencies, reviews, results from CI/CD etc.).
Establish Development Templates for the most common patterns such as Java-based microservices, REST service, etc.
Enforce common standards around code formatting and documentation.
Establish code quality metrics, report on code quality, establish goals towards code quality improvements, and drive execution towards code quality improvements.
Help define and uphold Enterprise standards around Non-functional Requirements (NFR's), API's, Events.

Shared Services across CLT
Lead definition and development of Shared Business and Data Services across CLT.
Migrate existing applications to leverage Shared Services and align new applications with Shared Services strategy.
Align and closely collaborate with Consumer Lending Shared Services business partners.
Drive efficiency in the organization through Shared Services strategy.
Build and support Shared Services as exemplars for best Agile and engineering practices.

Adoption of practices supporting Agile execution
Lead the drive towards self-organized and autonomous teams.
Shift left practices in testing, security, DevOps, Risk, etc.
Drive adoption of Domain Driven Design practices.
Build and support constructs such as Blue/Green deployment, A/B testing, feature toggles, external configurations.

Catalyst Teams (Test Automation, CI/CD, TDD/BDD, Cloud migration, Agile)
Define strategy for Catalysts teams: what technology practices they will support, how they will be deployed, how they will be utilized, how they will stay continuously up to date on the practices they engage in.
Define metrics to measure effectiveness of the catalyst teams.
Facilitate developer engagement through technology events and Communities of Practices.
Drive culture based on sound technology fundamentals. Establish fundamentals around Design, Testing, DDD, API's, Cloud, Microservices.

Lead Wells Fargo in Adoption of CTO Initiatives
Collaborate with CTO office on adoption of CTO initiatives by development teams.
Establish champion teams to accelerate adoption of the initiatives.

Attract, Grow and Retain Top Talent
Grow next generation of senior technology leaders.
Establish clear objectives and drive key results for the Engineering organization.
Attract and grow diverse talent.
Establish strong talent management practices in the Engineering organization.
Set clear goals for direct reports, coach, provide growth opportunities, recognize performance, and make team members visible throughout the larger organization.
Facilitate an environment for continuous technology learning at CLT.

Required Qualifications
* 10+ years of software engineering experience
* 8+ years of experience with strategic planning in technology
* 8+ years of experience with managing software development projects through complete release cycles
* 8+ years of leadership and people management experience in a large-scale technology environment

Desired Qualifications
* A Masters degree or higher in computer science or engineering
* 8+ years of experience with Agile practices
* 5+ years of experience with systems architecture and design
* 5+ years of experience with modern software engineering technologies and tool sets
* 3+ years of managing a 100+ FTE engineering organization

Other Desired Qualifications
* 10+ years software engineering experience as well as demonstrated experience in Application Support and/or Technology Operations.
* Measurable impacts and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
* A Bachelors degree or higher in computer science or engineering.
* Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technology transformations.
* Ability to effectively drive and lead operational change in an organization with Wells Fargos size, scale and complexity.

* Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial, operational, technical and regulatory drivers impacting a complex and dynamic global technology environment.
* Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise and WFT strategies.
* Broad experience across multiple areas of technology including one or more of architecture, infrastructure, application development and engineering.
* Proven experience as a highly effective leader with credibility from demonstrating strong business and technology acumen.
* Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style.
* Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood in support of sound decisions to meet business objectives.
* Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
* Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives.
* Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership.
