With the sheer scale of Walmarts environment comes the biggest of big data sets. As a Walmart Data Engineer, this role will be an enabler of our journey to be the worlds leading data-driven retailer. As part of this transformation, we are seeking an individual who will be responsible and contribute to the ETL strategies for developing and supporting data movement to on premise and cloud data platforms supported here at Walmart.

We are looking for a highly motivated, resourceful, team-oriented individual to drive and define the data requirements for the ingestion, processing, placement and consumption needs across the Global organization. You will participate in reviewing existing and new data workflows, work with many Application owners, Engineering teams and other stakeholders to define data needs and ensure delivery of the data sources in alignment with the business needs. You will also coordinate the development and support of these resources and collaborate across key functional domains and business lines, data engineering, quality assurance, data analysts and data stewards.

About the Data and Analytics Operations Team:

Our team focuses on maintaining thousands of ETL workflows and pipelines to deliver world-class data assets, by maintaining data standards, driving policy compliance, and ensuring data availability. We empower our business to leverage data to fuel growth and drive revenue. We protect customer, associate, and partner data, ensuring privacy and security when moving data.

Youll sweep us off our feet if:

* You have a proven track record in
* Producing code (e.g., COBOL, SQL, Java, C++, Python)
* Computing platforms and companion tools (e.g., Azure, SQL & NoSQL)
* Data movement tools (e.g., DataStage, Talend)
* Scheduling and monitoring tools (e.g., CA7, Cntrl M, Airflow)
* Mainframe and/or Unix/Linux
* Providing 24X7 production support
* Agile Methodology

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field and 4-6 years experience

OR

Masters degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years experience in the following

* ETL technologies (e.g., Mainframe, DataStage, etc)
* Relational Database platforms (e.g., DB2, Teradata, Informix, Oracle, etc)
* Troubleshooting skills in mainframe and/or open systems
* Programming (e.g., JCL, COBOL, C++, Python, SQL, Java)
* L1/L2/L3 Operational support
* Experience in Big Data Platforms (e.g., Hadoop HDFS, BigQuery, Cloudera)
* Self-directed, well organized and have good follow-up skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Proven ability to drive results, especially in a matrixed or influence based environment
* Driven to work with the teams to dig into data, processes, and issues
