North America Sort Centers (NASC) are experiencing explosive growth and looking for a skilled, highly motivated engineers to join the NASC SPEeD (Sortation Products Engineering and Data) team. The Sort Center network is the critical Middle-Mile solution in the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) group, linking Fulfillment Centers to the Last Mile. The experience of our customers is dependent on our ability to efficiently execute volume flow through the middle-mile network. The SPEeD team is expected to build scalable solutions to address increasing operational complexity from the evolution of new processes such as containerization, heavy-bulky freight, international shipping, customer returns, and Amazon Robotics solutions. We need to continuously innovate on behalf of our customers and develop new platforms and new science-based planning tools to efficiently match processing supply to logistics demand.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 8+ years of equivalent professional or military experience
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field and five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation as equivalent to the Master's degree
Design and development experience with at least one object-oriented language 3+ years of experience in front end and back end software development experience including Object Oriented Development (primarily JAVA) or equivalent programming languages, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and JSP
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices in software development, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processing, testing and operations
Experience in data structures and algorithm design, and problem solving
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
Experience influencing software engineers best practices within your team
Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
